An hour on My Mat ...

I don't know why I started yoga, but I was definitely looking for something.   I tried the gym, swimming, martial arts, art, cycling (which I still love), and I admit it was just physical to start with. I liked the way it pushed me and no matter how flexible & strong I became there would always be another pose to learn that I couldn't do.

I snapped my left hamstring 5 years ago. I couldn't walk (or sit on the loo) for 4 weeks until it re-attached.  Then, when I started to practice again it hurt so much that I over used the right leg and tore that hamstring. It took me 3 years to sort it out and it still gives me jip sometimes and bloody tears, so I work very hard on my yoga.

Stretch those hamstrings ...
I can't put into words what a magical
  thing yoga is...

It became pointless being competitive only when I stopped trying to be the best did I truly understand what yoga was. It has improved my confidence more than I can say.

I do things now that I would have never dreamed of all due to yoga. When my life gets tough I know an hour on my mat will make everything seem easier. Yoga is hard to explain in words, you have to try it and practise regularly to reap the benefits. I'm not saying yoga will make life perfect, you will still get sad, have stress etc, but it definitely helps big time.

I have been teaching my own classes and covering other teachers’ classes for 18 months. I also work as an assistant with a senior teacher in 2 weekly classes and a lower back class.

I have been practicing Iyengar yoga for 12 years and others styles for approximately 6 years before I discovered the Iyengar method. I only teach/practice the Iyengar method as something just clicked after my very first class it was just what I needed.  I
don't feel the need to change it and do my own thing, it is wonderful just as it is.

I have completed 3 years of Iyengar yoga teacher training with a senior level 3 teacher; I became full qualified in October 2012.

I have had the pleasure of being taught by excellent teachers including Judy Van-Dop (my trainer in Cornwall UK), Charlie Worthington Newlyn,Cornwall UK) Dr. Geeta Iyengar (Pune), Zubin Zarthoshtimanesh (Mumbia),Glenn Ceresoli (Australia), Richard & Kirsten Agar-Ward (Bath).

I can't put into words what a magical thing yoga is, but regular practice has made me healthy, happy and more confident. I can't imagine my life without yoga and when life starts to get tough an hour on my mat makes things seem much easier. It is a wonderful thing and I feel blessed to be able to share it with others.

It truly is the best job
 in the world!
